Sign Installer – Top Shelf Signs, Inc.

 

Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Operations Manager / Lead Installer

Position Summary

The Sign Installer is responsible for installing, removing, servicing, and maintaining a wide variety of signage, including channel letters, sign cabinets, pylons, monuments, LED lighting, and electrical components. This role requires strong mechanical ability, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety while working with power tools, ladders, bucket trucks, and cranes.

Key Responsibilities

 

Installation & Service

  • Install channel letters, sign cabinets, vinyl, LED retrofits, pole signs, monuments, and interior/exterior signage.

  • Measure, prepare layouts, and ensure correct placement, leveling, and alignment of signs.

  • Remove old signage and prepare surfaces or structures for installation.

  • Load, secure, and transport signs and materials safely to job sites.

  • Run crane, lift, or bucket truck equipment under proper supervision or certification.

  • Connect electrical components following NEC and company safety standards.

  • Inspect signs for damage, lighting issues, or structural concerns and perform repairs.

 

Tools, Equipment & Safety

  • Operate hand tools, power tools, rigging equipment, and lifts.

  • Follow OSHA and company safety protocols at all times.

  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on work trucks and equipment.

  • Keep tools, vehicles, and job sites clean, organized, and hazard-free.

 

Documentation & Communication

  • Read and interpret blueprints, install drawings, and site plans.

  • Complete work orders, time logs, and photo documentation for each job.

  • Communicate professionally with contractors, team members, and clients on-site.

  • Report issues, delays, or material needs to leadership promptly.

 

Qualifications

 

Required:

  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record

  • Ability to lift 50–75 lbs and work at various heights (ladders, roofs, lifts)

  • Mechanical aptitude and experience with hand/power tools

  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions

  • Reliable, professional, and safety-focused

 

Preferred (not required):

  • Previous experience in sign installation, construction, electrical, or related trades

  • CDL, crane certification, or bucket truck experience

  • Ability to read blueprints and wiring diagrams

  • Basic electrical knowledge (LED, low-voltage, 120/277V)
